Week 2 of high school football was eventful.
Venice dominated SmartEn Sports Academy. Sarasota Christian outlasted Saint Stephen's. Lakewood Wood ranch shutout Davenport. Manatee and Palmetto won their first games of the season, with the latter being a seven hour road trip to Key West. And Braden River won its first road game since 2023.
And since individual performances can get lost in the final scores, The Herald-Tribune is honoring the top performances each week.
Here are the 10 standouts from Week 2:
Elidrick Berry, Lakewood Ranch
Berry had two rushing touchdowns in Lakewood Ranch's 27-0 win over Davenport.
Will Campbell, Wellen Park
Campbell finished with 97 rushing yards and one touchdown, including the team's final score on a 5-yard run in Wellen Park's 41-21 win over Gateway.
Dorien Jones, Venice
In Venice's 64-8 win
over SmartEn Sports Academy, Jones had two carries for 92 yards and two touchdowns.
Tyree Mannings Jr., Venice
Mannings had 92 rushing yards and two touchdowns on two carries. He added 32 yards on one catch for a touchdown in Venice's 64-8 win over SmartEn Sports Academy.
William Roseboro Jr., Saint Stephen's
In a 35-32 loss to Sarasota Christian, Roseboro rushed for 201 yards and three touchdowns, including an 86-yard dash to the end zone.
Noah Spenn, Sarasota Christian
In Sarasota Christian's 35-32 win over St. Stephen's, Spenn had three touchdowns from 10, 20 and 25 yards out. He also had a crackback block, which head coach Jacob Spenn described as his best play of the game.
Hudson West, Sarasota
West threw for four touchdowns and ran for three. The 6-foot-4 quarterback finished 19-of-38 for 342 yards, adding 62 rushing yards. His longest completed went 73 yards to receiver Jayden Rivers.
Caedon White, Manatee
White led Manatee's offense with 20 carries for 97 yards and three touchdowns — a career-high — in a 28-17 win over Naples.
Noah Wireman, Wellen Park
Wiremen went 10-of-17 for 195 yards in Wellen Park's 41-21 win over Gateway.
Tait Zeltwanger, Sarasota Christian
Zeltwanger scored the touchdown that ultimately led Sarasota Christian to a 35-32 win over Saint Stephen's. He completed 11 of his 22 passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns, adding five carries for 54 yards, including the one that sealed the game.
