The Herald-Tribune Girls Athlete of the Week for Aug. 17-22, 2026, was Lakewood Ranch High volleyball player Adalynn Lund, who won the poll with 48% of the vote. Lund had 11 kills, one ace, eight blocks, 10 digs and 12 assists in Lakewood Ranch's 3-0 sweep over Lemon Bay.

The nominees for the week of Aug. 24-29, 2026 are:
Cross Country
Annabella Cicilioni, Sarasota: Cicilioni finished second with a 19:15.7 time in a meet at the North Port Preserve on Saturday.
Madison Muller, Riverview: Muller finished first with a 17:33.1 time, over a minute ahead of the second place finisher, during a meet at the North Port Preserve on Saturday.
Golf
Hayden Maniglia, Riverview: Maniglia shot a 44 — the lowest of the field — in Riverview's win over Lemon Bay and Wellen Park. She had a birdie putt from 35 feet out.
Jade MacFarland, Lakewood Ranch: MacFarland shot a 36 — the lowest of the field — in the Mustangs' 147-185 win over Venice.
Volleyball
Cali Arrowood, Imagine School: Arrowood had five kills, three aces and four blocks in Imagine School's 3-1 win over Golf Coast Heat.
Charlie Birdsall, Out-of-Door: Birdsall had 36 assists, two kills, 12 digs and three aces in ODA's sweep against Lakewood Ranch Prep.
Ryan Donlin, Sarasota Christian: Donlin had 10 kills in Sarasota Christian's 4-1 win over Palmetto. In a 3-2 loss to Saint Stephen's, Donlin recorded an additional 10 kills.
Kate Grosso, Riverview: Grosso had five kills, four blocks and three aces in Riverview's sweep against Port Charlotte.
Sam Lewis, Sarasota: Lewis had four kills and two blocks in Sarasota's 3-1 win over Wellen Park.
Triniti Ramjas Bryan, Sarasota: Bryan had five kills and two blocks in Sarasota's 3-1 win over Wellen Park.
