A new cannabis dispensary is scheduled to open Friday near the gateway to Sarasota's world-famous Siesta Key Beach.
Planet 13, a Nevada-based cannabis company, is scheduled to open its newest Florida dispensary at 2460 Stickney Point Road in Sarasota on Aug. 21.
The 2,600-square-foot dispensary will serve registered medical marijuana patients and caregivers.
"Sarasota is one of Florida's most affluent coastal communities, and it's exactly the type of market where our retail model performs best," said Bob Groesbeck, Co-CEO of Planet 13, in a statement. "The combination of a strong year-round residential population, seasonal visitor traffic, and a more mature, healthcare-oriented demographic aligns naturally with Florida's medical cannabis program,
and we expect this store to be a consistent performer from day one."
Planet 13 is a vertically integrated cannabis company based in Las Vegas, Nev. The company has cultivation, production and dispensary operations in Nevada, Illinois and Florida. Earlier this year, Planet 13 exited the California market to focus on its operations in Florida, Illinois and Nevada, according to its first-quarter financialreport.
Planet 13's flagship cannabis superstore in Las Vegas opened Nov. 1, 2018. The 112,000-square-foot complex, located just off the Las Vegas Strip, is billed by the company as the nation's largest dispensary.
