Noise is part of downtown Sarasota life
I read the recent article on the city of Sarasota forming a team to address noise enforcement ('Sarasota forms noise enforcement team as city weighs new rules," Sept. 22).
Oh no. Really? Not again.

The noise issue continues to pop up every few years in Sarasota, and it is mostly aimed at downtown bars, music, loud vehicles and people in general who are enjoying life.
Sarasota is a beautiful city, and all of the tri-county area is outstanding. Yet the noise battle has been going on for how many years now?
So here’s the gist of my letter:
Sarasota offers high-rise living in more than one area – for example, there's Main Street, Golden Gate, south of the roundabout and other spots with lovely buildings.
And our area in general offers:
- Golf course living.
- Numerous residential neighborhoods.
- Still-expanding, master-planned communities like Lakewood Ranch and Palmer Ranch.
- Growing locations like Venice, Nokomis, Osprey and North Port.
- Many other options that include assisted living and independent living.
Yet some of you
still move to downtown Sarasota – an area that is well established for attracting food and drink, special events, festivals, fun and traffic – and then start complaining about noise.
Really?
You knew this before you purchased the downtown property, but now you want everyone to share your opinion.
Seriously?
