A luxury fitness club with waterslides, pickleball courts and poolside dining opened its first Sarasota-area location with adult memberships starting at more than $300 a month.
Life Time opened its doors at 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, in Lakewood Ranch, bringing a sprawling wellness and social destination to one of Florida’s fastest-growing communities.
The club at 5000 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. N. spans more than 180,000 square feet across three components: an 86,000-square-foot athletic club, a nearly 50,000-square-foot beach club and a nearly 50,000-square-foot pickleball retreat.
What’s inside
The athletic club anchors the complex with a full fitness floor, boutique studios, spa services and dining. Group fitness offerings include more than 120 classes weekly — yoga,
barre, mat Pilates, HIIT and more — alongside Life Time’s signature formats: GTX, Alpha, Ultra Fit and the brand’s new CTR (Core Tone Reform) reformer-based Pilates class.
The facility's recovery amenities go well beyond the gym floor.
Members have access to hydrotherapy suites with dry saunas, eucalyptus-infused steam rooms, cold plunges and whirlpools. Life Time's Recovery Zone offers HydroMassage and CryoLounge chairs, Normatec compression therapy and Hyperice vibration tools. The full-service LifeSpa provides body, skin, hair and nail services, and a LifeClinic staffed with licensed chiropractors rounds out the wellness offerings.
The complex also includes a nearly 50,000-square-foot beach club.
The beach club features a leisure pool with waterslides. A separate six-lane lap pool serves dedicated swimmers, while cabanas and lounge chairs line the deck for members who want to less of a workout and more a day in the sun. The beach club offers poolside food and drink service and a bar and lounge.
Beyond fitness, the club includes a LifeCafe restaurant and bar, a complimentary coworking lounge for members and a Kids Academy with supervised programming for children ages 3 months to 11 years.
Wellness forward community
The Lakewood Ranch opening marks Life Time’s 10th Florida location, and second on the Gulf Coast. The company already operates clubs in Tampa’s Harbour Island (which opened two years ago in 2024), Winter Park and Miami, among others across the state.
“Lakewood Ranch is a community that values active, healthy living, making it a natural fit for Life Time,” said Parham Javaheri, executive vice president and development officer at Life Time.
“This is truly a wellness and social destination, blending the energy of an athletic country club with the ease and escape of a resort.”
Life Time first announced its Lakewood Ranch plans earlier this year and the new location has already created approximately 200 jobs, according to the company's communications leaders.
