Trader Joe's is expanding across Florida, and Sarasota is getting another store.
The popular grocery chain plans to open a new Sarasota location at 8199 S. Tamiami Trail, Unit 100, adding to its existing stores in Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch.
The new location will become Trader Joe's third store in the Sarasota-Manatee area. An opening date has not yet been announced. However, the Herald-Tribune confirmed the new sign has been installed, and the Tamiami Trail location is listed as "coming soon" on Trader Joe's website.
The Sarasota store is part of a larger expansion by Trader Joe's, which plans to open 30 new stores in 16 states, including Florida.
Trader Joe's is known for its private-label "unique and interesting products", along with seasonal
favorites, including its highly sought-after totes.

Here's what we know about the Sarasota store and Trader Joe's expansion across Florida.
Where is the new Trader Joe's opening in Sarasota?
The new Trader Joe's is planned for 8199 S. Tamiami Trail, Unit 100, Sarasota.
Trader Joe's previously confirmed the new Sarasota store, which will become the company's third location in the Sarasota-Manatee area.
Trader Joe's currently lists Sarasota locations on its website, as well as a Bradenton location.
No opening date has been announced for the new South Tamiami Trail store, but Trader Joe's has posted details about the location on its official website.
"At Trader Joe's in Sarasota, we see ourselves as your neighborhood grocery store," the store's official website reads. "Step inside and you'll find unconventional and interesting products in the Trader Joe's label like Mandarin Orange Chicken and Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate, as well as everyday basics like milk, eggs, meat, bakery items, and fresh produce."
"We are a good source for great cheese, and we offer a vibrant selection of fresh flowers," the statement continues. "Most importantly, we offer all of our delicious, quality products at the very best prices. We’re happy to be part of your community, and proud to offer you unique products and an exceptional shopping experience, every day."
Where else is Trader Joe's opening new stores in Florida?
Trader Joe's plans to open or has recently opened new stores across the country.
Its store-opening announcements include these planned Florida locations:
- Sarasota: 8199 S. Tamiami Trail, Unit 100. No opening date has been announced.
- Orlando: 1444 N. Alafaya Trail. No opening date has been announced. It will be Trader Joe's second Orlando location.
- Boynton Beach: 334 N. Congress Ave., Unit B. No opening date has been announced. Trader Joe's Boynton Beach.
Another store is planned for St. Johns County at the Legends Landing retail development at World Commerce Center, according to development plans.
Trader Joe's typically adds a location to its official store finder once a lease is signed and permitting is underway.
Trader Joe's also recently opened new Florida stores
Three Trader Joe's locations have opened in Florida over the past 12 months:
- West Palm Beach: 8111 S. Dixie Highway. The West Palm Beach location opened June 12, 2026.
- Melbourne: 21 Town Center Ave. The Melbourne store opened Dec. 3, 2025.
- Daytona Beach: 1511 Cornerstone Blvd. The Daytona Beach location opened Nov. 14, 2025.
"We are actively looking at hundreds of neighborhoods across the country, including many in Florida, as we hope to open more new neighborhood stores each year," Nakia Rohde said in a May email to the USA TODAY Network-Florida.
"At this time (May), I can confirm we have plans for stores in West Palm Beach, Sarasota, Kissimmee, and Maitland."
As of Oct. 20, no stores were listed for Kissimmee and Maitland on Trader Joe's website.

Trader Joe's lists stores in 28 Florida cities, including Sarasota, Bradenton, Fort Myers, Naples, St. Petersburg and Tampa.

Trader Joe's joins grocery expansion in Sarasota-Manatee and Florida
Trader Joe's isn't the only grocery chain expanding in Florida, including the Sarasota-Manatee area.
Publix has been opening and remodeling stores in Florida, including a new Bradenton store that opened Oct. 22 and an Englewood location scheduled to open Nov. 5.
Aldi also continues to expand in Florida, while the Winn-Dixie Company has refocused on the state after buying back many former stores from Aldi.
And Whole Foods will open its first Manatee County store Nov. 5.
