With Sarasota facing potential heavy rain and localized flooding and Manatee County currently under a flood watch as Hurricane Isaias continues to move north through the Gulf, some local events have been canceled due to the weather.
The annual Rocktoberfest in downtown Sarasota's J.D. Hamel Park, which was set to take place 5-11 p.m. Saturday with a lineup of musicians including Natipitch, Darko and Lee-O, has been canceled "due to expected weather."
"We’re disappointed we won’t be able to celebrate with you, but the safety of our community, vendors, musicians, and attendees comes first," a social media post announcing the cancellation read.

Downtown Sarasota park the Bay canceled its guided kayak tours for Friday and Saturday, citing "marine forecast and unfavorable weather conditions," with tours set to resume next week.
A Sarasota Opera House DaCapo Society launch party at their costume warehouse Thursday night has been canceled due to rain, with the event to be rescheduled.
Rainy weather also canceled other events earlier this week, such as the Bay's Salsa & Sunsets fourth anniversary community celebration Wednesday night, which is now rescheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 14. Lakewood Ranch canceled both its Ranch Nite Wednesday at Waterside Place and Classic Car Show at Lakewood Ranch Main Street.
Bradenton Police Department canceled its National Night Out block party Tuesday night with touch-a-truck, police demonstrations and more due to weather, adding "We will let you know if the event is rescheduled."
Many Sarasota area events this weekend were still on as of Thursday morning, although some, such as Sarasota Cars & Coffee at The Mall at University Town Center on Saturday, noted they are "closely monitoring the weather."
