A 64-year-old Bradenton man died after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing U.S. 41 in Manatee County on Friday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at 9:29 p.m. Oct. 9 at the intersection of U.S. 41, also known as 14th Street West, and 60th Avenue West.

A 49-year-old Palmetto man was driving a 2014 Ford F-150 north in the inside lane of U.S. 41, approaching the intersection with a green traffic signal, troopers said.
The pedestrian was attempting to cross the northbound lanes on the south side of the intersection when the front of the pickup struck him, according to FHP.
The Bradenton man was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries and later pronounced dead. The driver was not injured.
FHP did not
release either man's name. The crash remains under investigation.

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles reports there were 262,418 crashes in Florida through Oct. 1, 2026, including 1,833 fatalities.
The department’s Florida Crash Dashboard also reported 168,710 injuries, 1,702 fatal crashes and 112,696 injury crashes statewide during the same period.
