I just returned from a round trip to Michigan that covered more than 3,000 miles.
Here are some observations from the road:
First, Florida had it all over other states in the quality and number of rest areas.
This was a much-appreciated difference between states.
Tennessee had the best Interstate road surfaces, while Florida rated just barely better than Michigan.
While crossing Indiana, I was surprised to see that the price of gas was significantly lower than in surrounding states.
A little research revealed that a Republican governor and Republican supermajority state Legislature – sound familiar? – have suspended the state gas tax to give citizens and visitors some financial benefit during these times of rising costs.
It was a pleasant surprise
to see what a government can do.
I left 70-degree weather in Michigan to return to the 90s here.
But at least I don't have to shovel humidity, and that's better than shoveling the snow Michiganders will be seeing in a few months!
