Red Bug Slough is a Sarasota gem
Recently we decided to take an early morning walk in Red Bug Slough Preserve on Beneva Road.

Our old dirt path is now a new mulch and synthetic path where you seem to bounce down the trail.
The new walk veers away from the old steeper dirt path and gradually falls away to the small lake.
Everyone was super friendly, and many people were showing off their dogs. One large Golden Retriever pup was especially friendly and had to be dragged away.
We rested for a while on a bench and watched the ducks nearby.
It was actually cool there; it felt like an actual fall season with a breeze coming from across the lake.
My wife checked her phone's pedometer as we reached the parking lot, and to our amazement we had walked about one mile.
You should add Red Bug
Slough to your list of easy walking parks in Sarasota, which has one of the best-maintained park systems in the country.
