Each week, the Herald-Tribune staff will select nominees for the Herald-Tribune Girls Athlete of the Week poll sponsored by Central Florida Behavioral Network, Inc. Nominees are derived from scores and stats emailed in by Sarasota and Manatee County coaches during the week to htincoming@gmail.com. Readers can then vote in the online poll to determine the Girls Athlete of the Week.
The Herald-Tribune Girls Athlete of the Week sponsored by Central Florida Behavioral Health Network for Sept. 14-19, 2026, was Riverview High cross country runner Ella Dabringhaus, who won the poll with 61 percent of the vote. Dabringhaus placed ninth at the 2026 Raider Open-East Hillsborough, running a 20:46.2.
A poll will be posted at heraldtribune.com each Monday,
and voting will end at 10 a.m. Friday each week.
The nominees for the week of Sept. 21-26, 2026 are:
Cross Country
Kayla Hawk, Parrish Community: Hawk finished second at the Lakewood Ranch XC Invite, running a 19:22.62. She helped Lakewood Ranch to a first place finish.
Madison Muller, Riverview: Muller finished first at the Lakewood Ranch XC Invite, running a 17:53.95, almost a minute and a half faster than the second-place finisher. Muller helped Riverview to a second place finish.
Lexie Walder, Wellen Park: Walder placed ninth at the Lakewood Ranch XC Invite, running a 20:32.43.
Avery Webster, Lakewood Ranch: Webester placed 12th at the Lakewood Ranch XC Invite, running a 20:53.77.
Golf
Olivia Agate, Parrish Community: Agate shot a 37 against Cardinal Mooney and Parrish to place fifth. She helped Parrish to a first place finish.
Chloe Friedberg, Lakewood Ranch: Friedberg shot a 40 to finish seventh against Cardinal Mooney and Parrish, helping Lakewood Ranch to a second-place finish.
Jade MacFarland, Lakewood Ranch: MacFarland shot a 36 against Cardinal Mooney and Parrish to finish fourth. She helped Lakewood Ranch place second.
Rachel Runnalls, Out-of-Door Academy: Runnalls finished 9th in the Crutchfield/Hawkins Invitational with an 80. She helped ODA to a fourth place finish out of 13 teams.
Volleyball
Olivia Ierulli, Saint Stephen's: Against Lakewood Ranch Prep, Ierulli had nine kills and three aces in a 3-2 loss.
Selah Spenn, Sarasota Christian: Spenn had six blocks in Sarasota Christian's sweep over Palmetto. Spenn also recorded seven kills in Sarasota Christian's win over Southeast.
