Southwest Airlines is adding summer flights to its lineup at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ).
A flight between Sarasota and Austin, Texas, is returning with a Saturday-only route. Southwest is also increasing flights between Sarasota and Kansas City, Missouri (MCI), from weekly to daily, according to an SRQ news release. Both seasonal summer routes will run from June 3 through August 2, 2027.
In July, Southwest Airlines announced four other new routes between Sarasota and Albany, New York; Kansas City, Missouri; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Providence, Rhode Island, starting in January 2027.
Allegiant Air and Avelo Airlines are also expanding their flight offerings at Sarasota's airport.
Allegiant announced a new nonstop flight between
Sarasota and Providence, Rhode Island, coming in 2027, and five returning seasonal routes, with some starting as early as Sept. 30. Avelo Airlines extended its Sarasota booking window through March 2, 2027.

New Southwest Airlines nonstop route coming to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) in 2027
- Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) and Austin, Texas, via Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), Saturdays only, starts June 5, 2027, runs through July 31, 2027.
According to Southwest, tickets for the newly announced seasonal SRQ route, with Saturday-only service, are available for booking at Southwest.com.
Other new Florida flights
Airlines increasing their Florida presence, including:
- Allegiant Air is adding nine new nonstop routes starting next February.
- American Airlines has resumed Miami-Caracas flights after two earthquakes damaged the airport there.
- Breeze Airways is launching six new flights out of Florida this week and next
- Delta Air Lines recently added a new nonstop flight between Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) near Fort Myers and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina
- Frontier Airlines is adding new routes connecting Fort Lauderdale to Denver and Orlando and Kansas City, Missouri, starting in November. Other new routes will run between Detroit and Los Angeles; Houston, Texas, and San Juan, Puerto Rico; Orlando and Bogotá, Cartagena, and Medellín in Colombia.
- JetBlue Airways is drastically increasing its service at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, dropping service and airports elsewhere to do so.
