A Ventura man was sentenced Aug. 31 to 12 years in prison in Ventura County Superior Court for the yearslong abuse of a child.
Timothy Wade Hensley, 51, was convicted by a jury of felony continuous sexual abuse on July 31, according to a Ventura County District Attorney’s Office news release. The court also found true aggravating factors, including that he took advantage of a position of trust and that the victim was particularly vulnerable.
The charges come after investigators found that Hensley had committed sexual abuse against a child he had access to through a familial relationship, between 2016 and 2021, the DA’s office said.
The abuse began in a residence the two shared in Los Angeles County, when the child was about 9 to 10 years old, DA
officials said. The abuse continued when they moved to Thousand Oaks.
The victim reported the abuse to a friend in 2023, the DA’s office said.
