A Los Angeles man and youth were arrested for allegedly leading police in a pursuit with a stolen vehicle in Simi Valley on Aug. 20.
Officers with the Simi Valley Police Department responded to the 1500 block of Olympic Street around 1:15 a.m. after a call of a vehicle stolen came in, according to a department news release.
Just four minutes later, officers located the vehicle driving eastbound on Cochran Street, but the vehicle fled, leading to a pursuit, police said.
Police followed the vehicle until it was eventually blocked in at a cul-de-sac, officials said. The driver allegedly rammed a patrol vehicle with the stolen vehicle while an officer was still inside.
During the chase, one of the occupants allegedly threw a gun out of the window, police
said.
No injuries were reported from the crash, and the stolen vehicle was returned to its owner.
The two occupants, a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, were arrested on suspicion of evading, assault on a peace officer, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy, police said. The youth was also arrested on suspicion of being a minor in possession of a handgun.
The Los Angeles man and youth were booked into Ventura County jail and Ventura County juvenile hall, respectively, police said.
The 20-year-old's bail is set at $100,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on Aug. 24, jail records show.
