Newbury Park volleyball serves up two wins in busy week of fall sports

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Thursday

• Laney Knopp finished with 14 kills and two solo blocks, Charley Knupp had 10 kills and two solo blocks, Keira Overbeck had five kills and two solo blocks, Emmery Reynolds had five kills, two aces and a block, and Taylor Black had eight kills to lead Newbury Park to a 25-21, 25-22, 25-21 sweep of Royal in a nonleague match. Ella Ragland had 20 kills,10 digs and two aces, Abby Buonauro registered 16 assists and two aces, and Katie Flynn served five aces for the Highlanders.
• Saylor Halvorsen compiled 19 kills and seven digs, Halle Bryce racked up 13 kills, Aella Keays had 16 assists and Savannah Tung had 15 assists to led unbeaten Thousand Oaks (6-0) to a 25-19, 25-23, 25-15 sweep of Oak Park in a nonleague match.
• Avery Reed had 11 kills and five blocks, Rossilyn Buchanan compiled 19 assists and Ainsley Feeney had six kills to lead Ventura (4-4) to a 25-17, 25-15, 25-15 sweep of Rio Mesa in a nonleague match. Sydney Nunnery had 10 kills and four digs, Kyla Sahagun finished with 17 digs and Sophia Turner had 15 assists, five digs and three kills for the Spartans.
• Payton Holliday finished with 17 kills and two aces, Kristen Currie had eight kills and two aces and Lauren Vlachos had 27 assists and three aces to lead Moorpark to a 28-26, 25-18, 25-12 sweep of El Camino Real in a nonleague match.

Wednesday

• Camarillo improved to 5-1 on the season with a 25-21, 26-28, 25-17, 25-13 win over Buena in a nonleague match. For the Bulldogs, Rilee Gosselin finished 11 kills, 13 assists and three blocks and Emma Kuske had four kills and nine digs.

Tuesday

• Charley Knupp finished with six kills and eight aces, Keira Overbeck had six kills and two aces, Emmery Reynolds had seven kills, and Laney Knopp had six kills and an ace to lead Newbury Park to a 25-18, 25-18, 25-18 sweep of Ventura in a nonleague match. Mia Howard had six kills, and two aces, Gabriella Fernandez had nine digs, and Ainsley Feeney had six kills for the Cougars.

• Kristen Currie finished with 12 kills, 13 digs and six aces, Payton Holliday compiled 10 kills, nine digs and two blocks, Jules Deurmier had six kills, Delaney Ibotson had 14 digs and two aces, and Lauren Vlachos amassed 27 assists and four aces to lead Moorpark to a 25-23, 25-22, 25-18 sweep of Agoura in a nonleague match. Aylee Pizzo had 10 kills, Olivia Bruns had five kills, and Harper Schwartz had four kills and nine digs for the Chargers.
• Mila Hernandez had 19 assists and five aces, Maya Cunningham finished with nine kills and 12 assists, and Halena Marin added nine kills to lead Oxnard (3-3) to a 25-15, 25-16, 25-20 sweep of Del Sol in a nonleague match.
• Fifi Holt finished with eight kills, 11 digs, three aces and three blocks, Peyton Fox had 19 assists and 10 digs, Grace Canavan had 20 digs, and Maya Adams added six kills and 10 blocks to lead Foothill Tech to a 25-20, 25-22, 25-17 sweep of St. Bonaventure in a nonleague match.
• Gwen Hunnicute had six kills and six digs, Piper Butera, Juliet Thompson and Gio Nugwynne each had five kills, and Aella Keays finished with 14 assists to lead Thousand Oaks (5-0) to a 25-13, 25-13, 25-19 sweep of Rio Mesa in a nonleague match.
• Carly Watkins had nine kills, Ella Ragland finished with 11 kills, five digs and two aces, Izzy Irvin had 10 digs and two aces, and Olivia Milano compiled 16 assists, four kills and four aces to lead Royal (3-1) to a 25-18, 25-19, 25-23 sweep of San Marcos in a nonleague match.
• Malie Ogbechie had 16 kills and Elyse Wong had 14 kills to lead Oaks Christian (3-0) to a 25-20, 25-21, 25-14 sweep of Oak Park in a nonleague match.
• Jacky Pina had seven kills and seven aces and Jane Mowrey had 22 assists for Santa Clara in its 25-18, 25-15, 16-25, 20-25, 15-10 loss to Carpinteria in a nonleague match.

Monday

GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL.

Thursday

• Mia Wright passed for three touchdowns, Addie Davis scored two TDs, Stella Jordan had a TD, and Audrey Simic sealed the win with an interception to lead Oaks Christian (3-3) to a 19-13 win over Simi Valley.
• Westlake earned a 24-13 win over Oxnard (4-4).

Wednesday

• Newbury Park had four interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, in a 33-0 win over Buena 33-0.

Tuesday

• Gigi Tomasino completed 15 of 23 passes for 165 yards and five TDs, Ryanna Harris had seven catches for 70 yards and two TDs, and Mariah Tutt, Jazz Dominguez and Ruby Duran each had a TD reception to lead Oxnard to a 47-20 win over Highland.
• Mia Wright completed 21 of 39 passes for 182 yards and two TDs, Gemma Chababi had a TD and a sack, Addie Davis had three receptions for 10 yards and a TD, Audrey Simic had four receptions for 46 yards, Stella Jordan had five receptions for 46 yards, Lillee Maine had five receptions for 40 yards, Sofia Knox had 15 flag pulls and an interception, and Willa Bernd had a sack to lead Oaks Christian to a 13-7 overtime win over Pacifica.

GIRLS GOLF

Thursday

• Taylor Ingold earned medalist honors with a 41, Brooklyn Brown shot a 53 and Tess Borkowski posted a 56 as Foothill Tech opened its season a 269-278 win over Newbury Park at Olivas Links Golf Course.
• Jianna Kim fired a 34 and Carinna Rao shot a 37 for Oaks Christian in its 180-186 loss to Harvard-Westlake in a nonleague match at Los Robles Greens Golf Course.

Tuesday

• Maya Brown shot a 76, Arianna Barry had a 78 and Lauren Sandoval had a 79 as Oaks Christian opened its season with a 393-433 win over Valencia in a nonleague match at Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara.
• Nina Xu earned medalist honors with a 38 as Oak Park opened its season with a 226-304 win over Newbury Park at Los Robles Greens Golf Course.
