A 55-year-old man died Aug. 5 after an early morning crash into a tree in Thousand Oaks.
The Ventura County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the crash around 4:23 a.m. on Westlake Boulevard near Cascade Avenue, not far from the North Ranch Shopping Center, according to a news release. Thousand Oaks contracts its police services from the sheriff's office.
Traffic investigators determined Anthony Whiteside of Sherman Oaks had been driving north on Westlake Boulevard when his car veered onto the median and collided with a tree.
Ventura County Fire and paramedics arrived and performed life-saving measures before transporting him to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, according to the sheriff's office. Whiteside died shortly
after his arrival at the hospital.
