One person was hospitalized after a shooting in Ventura's west end early Aug. 4.
Officers with the Ventura Police Department responded to the area of Riverside and Ramona streets around 1:10 a.m. after
reports of a shooting, said Cmdr. Todd Hourigan. The area is located on the city's west side in a neighborhood just off Ventura Avenue.
Police found the person injured, Hourigan said. The victim was transported to Ventura County Medical Center, and the person's condition was unknown as of 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 4.
The shooter had fled the scene prior to officers arriving, the commander said.
It's the second violent incident in the neighborhood in recent weeks. A 34-year-old Santa Paula woman was shot and killed July 18 outside a home near West Ramona and Olive Streets, and a 52-year-old man was arrested.
