The California Highway Patrol is investigating a body found after a fire in a motorhome in the Ojai Valley Aug 1.
The CHP and Ventura County Fire Department responded to the fire on Highway 33, also known as Maricopa Highway, near North Lomita Avenue around 4:30 p.m., according to a news release from the CHP. Callers said the vehicle was on the right shoulder and fully engulfed in flames with fire spreading to nearby vegetation.
Once the fire was put out, first responders discovered a person had died inside the recreational vehicle. The identity and cause of death are not known, CHP officials said.
Highway 33, between Meiners Road and North Alvarado Street, was closed for about four hours while the fire and the death were investigated.
