Despite the heat, protesters made their way to the Ventura County Government Center for the latest installment of the No Kings protests on Oct. 17.
The protests are part of a national movement in which local organizations host events under the No Kings banner. In Ventura County, organizers hosted two large protests, one at 800 S. Victoria Ave. in Ventura and the other at the corners of Hillcrest Drive and Lynn Road near The Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks.

Smaller demonstrations were listed at the Simi Valley library and a Highway 101 overpass in Thousand Oaks, according to the movement's website.
The theme of the newest round of protests was "Vote Early," with organizations such as the local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, 50501 and
805 Undocufund manning tents at the government center lawn urging early voting and voter registration.
The Ventura Police Department estimated about 500 to 600 people attended the protest along the sidewalks of Victoria Avenue and Telephone Road, with no incidents reported from the event, said Cmdr. Todd Hourigan.
No incidents were reported from the protest in Thousand Oaks, said Ventura County Sheriff's Office Capt. Brian Slominski.
