A 41-year-old Ventura woman was arrested Aug. 23 after she allegedly entered a Ventura home, took a set of keys and drove off with a car, police said.
The Ventura Police Department was called at 10:37 a.m. on a report of a disturbance at Telephone Road and Cypress Point Lane, near the Ventura County Government Center, according to a news release. Officers found the victim confronting the alleged car thief, police said.
The victim told officers she had left her home on Cypress Point Lane to go on a walk. While away, the suspect allegedly burglarized the home, took the car keys, found the vehicle connected to the keys and left in the car.
The victim called 911 after trying to stop the woman who was spotted in the victim's husband's parked vehicle,
police said.
The woman drove the vehicle a short distance but abandoned it, police said. The victim and a witness detained the woman for police officers who soon arrived.
The woman was arrested and booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of felonies for burglary and unlawful taking of a vehicle. She is being held on $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court Aug. 25, according to jail records.
