An Oak Park man pleaded guilty to two felony counts of gross vehicular manslaughter in Ventura County Superior Court on Aug. 28 for a 2025 crash that left an elderly couple dead.
Neil Liam Reb, 22, also admitted to the special allegation that the crime is a serious felony, according to a Ventura County District Attorney’s Office news release. He previously pleaded not guilty to both counts on Aug. 5, 2025, court records show.
The charges come from a crash on May 6, 2025 in Newbury Park. Reb was driving a 2024 Jeep Wrangler around 4 p.m. when he crashed into a Volkswagen Tiguan at the intersection of Via Las Brisas and Calle Del Prado, DA’s officials said.
Investigators said that Reb was driving the Jeep recklessly and at nearly twice the posted
speed limit of 45 mph, the DA’s office said.
The crash resulted in the deaths of the couple inside the Volkswagen, Alejandro Ramirez, 77, and Maria Ramirez, 73, the DA’s office previously said.
Reb was 21 years old whenhe was arrested on June 30, 2025.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 9, DA’s officials said. He remains out of prison on $50,000 bond.
