A motorcyclist died and a Ventura woman was hospitalized on Aug. 13 after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 33.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the crash south of Stanley Avenue in Ventura around 3:45 p.m., according to a CHP news release.
An investigation showed that a 34-year-old Port Hueneme man riding a Suzuki RS350 motorcycle was driving southbound on the two-lane highway, reportedly at speeds of about 100 mph, CHP officials said.
A 44-year-old Ventura woman was driving a Honda Accord, also southbound 33, when she switched into the No. 2 lane, and the two vehicles crashed, the CHP said.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Honda driver was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center with major injuries,
CHP officials said.
The crash shut down the No. 2 lane of the 33 south of Stanley for over four hours while the CHP investigated.
The California Highway Patrol's Ventura-area office is investigating the crash and has requested that anyone with information on the incident call 805-662-2640. Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be a factor in this crash.
