Vote for Campos for council
I’m writing about the unusual council campaigns in Ventura this year. Particularly district 1. It is rare for a sitting council member to form a PAC attempting to overthrow a sitting council, but this is what we are seeing. My particular concern is the hate speech being thrown about by a group led by a clearly hateful minister.
Council member Liz Campos has had her campaign signs marked with anti-LGBTQ graffiti and marked with hateful messages about people with disabilities. It makes me wonder what kind of city Ventura has become. Hateful messages and drawings are being scrawled on school trustee Peterson’s signs as well.
Let’s go back to being kind Ventura. Liz Campos may be disabled but she has shown over the last for years why she was elected
in the first place. Liz Cares for immigrants’ rights, LGBTQ protections, animal welfare, and children’s safety from drug use. All these as reflected in the policies she has brought and passed. Liz Campos is currently waiting for policies to ban flock cameras, ban data centers citywide and stop building more gas stations or other toxic industries in historically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Liz is a first-class climate activist as well.
Any attempt to win an election by making fun of a disabled person, ridiculing someone’s personal choices, or just ignoring all the good Liz has brought to West Ventura is bad for the people and bad for the city. I say vote for Liz Campos, she is the best choice for Ventura’s council.

The reasons to vote for Teran
I voted for Gabe Teran for the Oxnard City Council, District 2 position and here’s why:
Gabe has voted for and kept a balanced budget every year he’s been in office since 2021. He’s brought forward and passed local health and safety initiatives that affect us all. With his background in helping youth and families, both professionally and as a council member, Gabe has positively affected numerous lives in our community.
From assisting with parking problems to repair of streets and alleys, to making our streets safer, he responds every time someone contacts him about a problem and does not rest until he has taken action. Gabe works with people. He does not dictate to them. He is extremely knowledgeable about how the city, county, and state governments work and how they interact and he uses that knowledge for the benefit of all Oxnard residents.
Gabe was born and grew up in the same Oxnard neighborhood he lives in now and represents so effectively. Most of all, Gabe really cares about all of Oxnard and about promoting the well-being of all its citizens. Gabe is endorsed by the Oxnard police and firefighters, teachers, labor unions, health care workers, and local businesses through the Chamber of Commerce. If you live in Council District 2 in Oxnard and haven’t voted yet, please vote for Gabe Teran.
