Hundreds of thousands of ballots headed to mailboxes throughout Ventura County as early voting started this week.
On Oct. 5, the first day for early in-person voting, more than a dozen voters cast their ballots
at the Ventura County Government Center, 800 S. Victoria Ave. in Ventura. That kicks off nearly a month of voting in the Nov. 3 midterm election. Local voters will choose from a slate of candidates running for city, state and congressional races.Additional voting locations will open throughout the county starting Oct. 24. The county uses an election model that includes more in-person voting days but fewer voting locations. Voters also can cast their ballot at any center in the county, not just the one closest to them.

Ballots also may be
dropped off at one of dozens of drop-box locations throughout the county starting this week. For a list of locations, go to vote.venturacounty.gov. Ballots sent by mail must be postmarked by Nov. 3, and officials urged anyone doing so to mail their ballots early.
The last day to vote in person or return a ballot is Nov. 3.

To register to vote online, go to sos.ca.gov/elections/voter-registration by Oct. 19. Voters can sign up to track their ballot at wheresmyballot.sos.ca.gov to find out when it is mailed, received and counted.
