Authorities identified the two men killed in a crash on Victoria Avenue in Oxnard Sept. 25.
The men were trapped inside their vehicles as a result of the crash and later pronounced dead at the scene.
Jose Luis Martinez Perez, 58, was from Oxnard, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office. He died of blunt force head, neck and chest injuries, and his death was ruled an accident.
Tranquilino Ortiz Cabrizal, 31, was also an Oxnard resident, according to the medical examiner's office. He died of multiple, blunt-force injuries, and his death was ruled an accident.
Ortiz Cabrizal and Martinez Perez were both driving separate vehicles westbound on Doris Avenue around 3:54 p.m. Sept. 25 when a GMC Sierra truck driving on northbound on Victoria
Avenue ran a red light and crashed into them.
The driver of the GMC, 29-year-old David Mora of Santa Paula, was arrested and charged in the deaths of the Oxnard men. He pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of second-degree murder in Ventura County Superior Court on Oct. 6.
Ortiz Cabrizal's family has since set up a GoFundMe page to help support his widow and 8-month-old child and to return his body to his hometown of Soyatlán de Juárez in Guerrero, Mexico. The page had raised $3,470 of its $5,000 goal as of Oct. 9.
Martinez Perez's family also created a GoFundMe to raise money to help with funeral costs. As of Oct. 9, the fundraiser had reached $17,772 of its $20,000 goal. His funeral services are planned for Oct. 13 and 14, according to Robert Rey Garcia Jr. Funeral Services.
