A 42-year-old Oxnard man was arrested Oct. 15 for his alleged physical altercations with two minors at a Thousand Oaks business days earlier.
Deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block of North Moorpark Road around 7 p.m. on Oct. 10 after receiving reports of a disturbance, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
An investigation into the disturbance found that there was an altercation between two youths inside the building, the sheriff’s office said.
About 10 minutes after the fight was stopped, the man allegedly confronted one of the minors, a 12-year-old Moorpark boy, sheriff’s officials said.
Surveillance footage and cell phone video of the altercations showed the Oxnard man confronting the boy, allegedly
attempting to headbutt him and grabbing him by his shirt, officials said. Detective Jon Nungester would not confirm the name of the business.
Several people attempted to separate the Oxnard man and the boy, sheriff’s officials said. The 12-year-old was not injured from the altercation.
Investigators also found that the man allegedly pushed a 17-year-old employee and poked at his throat as the youth tried to escape into the employee lounge, sheriff’s officials said.
The Oxnard man was arrested on suspicion of felony assault likely to produce great bodily injury two misdemeanor counts of battery and two misdemeanor counts of child abuse, Nungester said.
He was booked into Ventura County jail but later released on $10,000 bond on Oct. 16, the detective said. The man is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on Oct. 30.
