An Oxnard woman has pleaded guilty to felony offenses including theft from an elderly person, according to authorities.
On June 4, Oxnard Police Department officers responded to a report of a burglary at
the 4000 block of Dallas Drive, according to a department news release. An elderly man who lived at the home recently died and officers found there was a U-Haul moving truck in front of the home before the burglary.
Police identified a woman, 43, of Oxnard, as the man's former caretaker and suspected her of renting the moving truck using another person's identification, officials said.
The identification used to rent the truck was stolen during a separate vehicle burglary, the release says.
The 43-year-old was being held by Ventura County Sheriff's Office deputies in Camarillo on multiple offenses that were not related to the Oxnard incident, police said.
Police found some of the dead man's belongings in the Camarillo arrest, officials said. Based on what was found, police arrested the 43-year-old on felony possession of stolen property and identity theft, the release says.
On July 13, the woman pleaded guilty to felony offenses including theft from an elderly person and identity theft, court records show.
She is being held at Ventura County jail with a bail set at $50,000, jail records show. Her next Ventura County Superior Court hearing is Aug. 10.
