Harris ran an inspiring campaign
I don’t agree with the premise that Kamala Harris ran a bad campaign. In a very short time, she ran an inspiring campaign that put forward real ideas. She destroyed President Trump in their only debate. In the meantime, Trump rode in a garbage truck, and “worked” in McDonald’s. He said ridiculous stuff, like “prices will come down on Day 1.”
I’m sure Gavin Newsom will run, but we don’t need to disparage Harris’ campaign. In my mind she was head and shoulders above Biden and Trump. We are suffering the consequences now of not enough people seeing this.

Endorsement for Martinez-Bravo
As a former Camarillo mayor and city councilmember who served from 1983 to 1991, I will vote for Dr. Martita Martinez-Bravo for District 5 because she is smart, creative, energetic,
and compassionate.
Her creativity caught my attention during her first campaign, when she invited residents to meet her at a community ice cream social at the park. The event encouraged residents, especially parents and children, to get to know her.
At her induction ceremony, she demonstrated her concern for everyone in our city by delivering her acceptance speech in both English and Spanish, allowing Spanish-speaking community members to share fully in the moment.
She sought office to improve our community and ensure that everyone who lives or works here is heard and represented. It had been decades since a parent with young children had served on the city council.
That perspective matters because parents understand firsthand how decisions about streets, parks, housing, and public safety affect families’ daily lives. She brings that practical experience to the council while remaining attentive to residents of every age and background.
She does her homework, arrives prepared, and follows through on issues that matter. She has worked to reduce traffic speeds, support repaving the Calleguas Creek bike path, and add crosswalks, light beacons, and other pedestrian safety measures near Pitts Ranch Park, Village at the Park, and Camarillo High School.
Some of the most important causes she has worked for are housing for low/moderate-income residents and workers, down-payment assistance for aspiring homeowners, support for local businesses and the Costco development, and safer streets for families and seniors like me.
Her leadership reflects both careful preparation and genuine concern for the people she serves. She is an accessible, responsive, effective, and valuable city councilmember, and I am proud to endorse her.
