Authorities were called about a baby not breathing at Westlake Elementary School in after-school hours Sept. 15.
Deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office were called to the campus at 1571 E. Portrero Road around 3:30 p.m. and found the child who was taken by ambulance to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, said Capt. Chris Zapata.
It was not immediately clear if the baby was alive as of 8 p.m., Zapata said. Detectives with the sheriff's office major crimes unit was still on scene, he said.
The investigation is ongoing.
