A 52-year-old motorcyclist was hospitalized following a crash with a car in Oxnard on July 24.
Officers with the Oxnard Police Department arrived at the intersection of Ventura Road and Doris Avenue around 6:23 a.m. and found a Harley-Davidson with major damage and its rider lying on the ground in the middle of the intersection, according to the police department news release.
An initial investigation showed that the motorcyclist riding southbound on Ventura Road split traffic lanes as he approached Doris Avenue, officials said.
The other vehicle, a Nissan Altima, was traveling northbound on Ventura Road and made a left turn at the intersection when the motorcycle struck the Altima on its side, launching the rider, police said.
The biker, an Oxnard
resident, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, police said.
The driver of the car, a 33-year-old from Oxnard, remained on scene.
The police department was investigating the crash, and they do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. It is unknown if speed was a factor.
