The beer, oompah music, yodeling, strudel and lederhose are back.
The Ventura County Fairgrounds at 10 W. Harbor Blvd. in Ventura will host a three-day Oktoberfest from Oct. 2 to Oct. 4. The event debuted last yearas the first-fairgrounds produced event other than the annual fair in many years.
Attractions include an opening night procession and a keg-tapping ceremony at 6 p.m. There will be music from performers, including Festmeister Hans und Die Sauerkrauts, stein-holding and yodeling contests, a bier haus, comedy shows, accordions, line-dancing, train rides on the grounds, carnival rides, an artisan fair and a petting zoo.
“Our theme this year is more of everything,” said Megan Hook, fairgrounds spokesperson.
Sunday’s schedule will include head-to-head
armored fighting in the form of a tournament organized by the Medieval Combat USA organization.
Hours are 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Oct. 2; noon to 11 p.m. on Oct. 3 and noon to 7 p.m. on Oct. 4. Presale tickets can be bought onlinethrough Thursday and are $10.45 for adults and $6.29 for children ages 6 to 12 and adults 65 and older. Kids 5 and younger are free. Weekend passes and beer deals are available.
Parking on site is $10. Tickets at the gate are $12 for adults and $8 for kids ages 6 to 12 and seniors. For more information, go to venturacountyfair.org.
