A Ventura man pleaded not guilty two felonies in Ventura County Superior Court on Oct. 13 for allegedly possessing child sexual abuse material generated by using artificial intelligence, or AI.
The 50-year-old man was charged with possession of obscene child sexual abuse material and possession of child pornography for commercial consideration on Oct. 8, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.
DA’s office investigators were alerted to the material being uploaded to a social media messaging platform between September and November of 2025, officials said. Investigators were alerted through Cybertips, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s tip line.
The material was uploaded to several accounts on the messaging
platform, which all led back to an IP address in Ventura County.
The 50-year-old was identified as the alleged owner of the social media accounts, DA’s office said.
Investigators obtained a warrant to search the man’s home and found two hard drives containing AI-generated sexual abuse materials depicting young girls, the DA’s office alleges.
The man was arrested and then released on his own recognizance, court records show. He is scheduled to return to Ventura County Superior Court on Dec. 2.
