A 32-year-old woman has died after being hit by a vehicle the evening of Aug. 6 on Telegraph Road in Ventura, authorities said.
Ventura Police Department officers responded to a call of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle about 8 p.m. on Telegraph Road, west of Mills Road, according to a department news release.
Officers found a woman lying on the road with significant injuries and took her by ambulance to a local hospital, officials said.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, the release says.
An initial investigation found the vehicle traveling west on Telegraph Road when the pedestrian crossed the roadway in front of the vehicle and was hit, officials said. The pedestrian is suspected of crossing
the roadway between two intersections "not in a marked or unmarked crosswalk," the release says.
On Aug. 11, the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office contacted the department that the pedestrian had died from traffic injuries.
