A 63-year-old man accused of child molestation and other offenses has been arrested in Santa Paula, according to authorities.
On Aug. 22, Santa Paula Police Department police officers and detectives responded to a child molestation incident, according to a department news release. An initial investigation found a 7-year-old girl was molested by a family member earlier that day.
Detectives arrested David Salvador on suspected child molestation offenses while visiting from outside of the U.S., police said.
Salvador was booked into Ventura County jail with a bail set at $1 million, the release says.
On Aug. 25, Salvador was arraigned at Ventura County Superior Court on charges including felony lewd acts with a child, unlawful acts with a child victim
under age 10 and burglary, filed by the Ventura County District Attorney's Office, officials said. The man's bail status was updated and now he is being held without bail.
Salvador's next court hearing is scheduled on Sept. 21, jail records show.
Authorities suspect there may be additional victims and ask anyone with information on this incident or others to contact Detective Yvette Solis 805-826-7512 or ysolis@santapaula.gov.
