Three Thousand Oaks men were arrested Aug. 28 after allegedly attacking a man at an apartment complex.
Deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Oakview Apartment Homes at 645 Hampshire Road in Thousand Oaks around 2:30 a.m. in response to an attack on a 25-year-old man, according to a sheriff’s office news release. The sheriff's office is contracted to provide police services for the city.
An investigation into the incident found that a security guard for the complex had responded to a noise disturbance at the pool area around 2:15 a.m. and advised several individuals to quiet down and leave, sheriff’s officials said.
Shortly after, the security guard heard yelling and found a man being assaulted, officials said. The Thousand
Oaks man had reportedly been knocked to the ground and punched, kicked and stomped, suffering injuries to the head, face and body, the sheriff's office said.
Investigators believe the 25-year-old man was attacked after he was questioned about contacting law enforcement for the earlier disturbance, the sheriff’s office said.
Three Thousand Oaks men, ages 30, 29 and 24, were arrested on suspicion of felony assault.
The 30-year-old and 24-year-old men were booked into Ventura County jail and were later released on bond, jail records show. The 24-year-old is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on Sept. 11.
Additional jail and court records were not available for the other men.
The sheriff’s office believes there could have been more people present during the assault and has requested that anyone who may have witnessed the attack or have video or photographs contact the sheriff’s office at 805-494-8201.
