The 45th annual Wings Over Camarillo Air Show will take flight at the Camarillo Airport Aug. 15 and Aug. 16, offering high-flying fun for all.
This year’s theme celebrates 90 years of the Douglas DC-3 aircraft, which “transformed commercial air travel and played a vital role during World War II, earning its place as one of the most iconic airplanes ever built,” according to a news release from the organizing nonprofit Camarillo Wings Association.
Actor Patrick Warburton, known for his roles in "Seinfeld" and "Family Guy," will serve as the show's grand marshal. Attendees will be able to meet him and get autographs.
For the first time, the air show will offer attendees who pay an additional $10 to $50, plus online service fees, access to the Gooney
Bird Lounge. It will include private restrooms, a shaded lounge area, unobstructed views of the show and direct access to the air show shuttle, among other perks.
When and where is the Wings Over Camarillo Air Show?
The weekend-long event will go from Aug. 15 to Aug. 16 at 555 Airport Way, Camarillo. The show will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.
How much does the event cost?
General admission to the air show can be purchased online at wingsovercamarillo.com and starts at $16 for children ages 6 to 16, $38 for those ages 17 and older, and $24 for active-duty military and veterans with ID plus online service fees. Tickets can also be purchased at the entrance to the air show for $45 for adults.
Children 5 and younger can enter for free.
VIP Chalet tickets, which include a catered barbecue lunch, beer and wine, and a shaded skybox seat on the flight line, start at $95.25 for children ages 3 to 12 and are $187 for Saturday and $177 for Sunday for those ages 13 and up.
Additionally, attendees can register vehicles for the classic car and motorcycle show for $34 that include general admission for the driver and one passenger.
Where is parking for the air show?
Parking for the event is free and free shuttles will transport attendees between the furthest parking lots and the entrance. There is also designated handicap and VIP parking, as well as bike parking by the corner of Eubanks Street and Skyway Drive.
What other activities does the air show offer?
On top of the air demonstrations, which begin at noon, the event will feature aircrafts on display, a classic car show, food and drinks, and a pavilion for science, technology engineering and math or STEM exhibits, among other activities.
The flightline preview, which runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., will allow attendees to see aircraft up close and speak with pilots and docents to learn more.
The classic car and motorcycle parade will begin around 2:30 p.m. both days.
Attendees can also pay for rides in helicopters and planes, including a B-25 Bomber and a Fairchild PT-19 Cornell with an open-cockpit.
