An Oxnard man died after crashing his truck on Lewis Road outside Camarillo on Aug. 15.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol responded to South Lewis Road north of University Drive around 3:10 p.m. and found a 26-year-old man suffering from major injuries, according to an Aug. 18 news release from the CHP.
The man was transported to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks where he was later pronounced dead, the CHP said.
An investigation of the crash found that the man was driving a Toyota Tacoma northbound on Lewis Road near CSU Channel Islands when, for reasons still under investigation, he traveled across the southbound lanes and crashed into an embankment on the left shoulder, CHP officials said.
The Toyota flipped multiple
times after hitting the embankment, officials said.
It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
The CHP’s Ventura-area office is investigating the crash and has requested that anyone with information call 805-662-2640.
