A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and several other misdemeanors after authorities say he trespassed in the yards of multiple Simi Valley homes on July 27.
Officers with the Simi Valley Police Department responded to the backyard of a home on Willowbrook Lane around 10:45 p.m. after someone had called to report a prowler, according a department news release.
The home is in a residential area north of Royal Avenue and east of First Street.
The caller told police that the person had jumped a fence into the yard of a home on Pride Street as officers arrived in the area, police said.
After police found the Simi Valley man and commanded him to stop, he fled, officials said.
He was caught with the help of a K-9 officer, police
said. After a short struggle, the man was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism as well as multiple misdemeanors including prowling, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, authorities said.
Investigators believe the man trespassed into at least three yards and caused property damage, including damaging a fence and a spa, police said.
He was booked into Ventura County jail with bail set at $10,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on July 29, jail records show.
