The U.S Coast Guard rescued a person after a sailboat ran aground on Santa Rosa Island on Sept. 24.

The Coast Guard received a report on the grounded 25-foot vessel around 12:18 p.m., according to an agency news release.

Santa Rosa Island is located off the coast of Ventura and Santa Barbara and is part of the Channel Islands National Park.

A sailing vessel that ran ashore on the coast of Santa Rosa Island on Sept. 24, 2026.. The U.S. Coast rescued one person and the boat was later towed back to Ventura Harbor.

A helicopter crew was dispatched to the island and rescued one occupant of the boat, taking the person back to Camarillo Airport, where the Ventura County Fire Department could assess the mariner for injuries.

No injuries were reported and the boat was reportedly towed back to Ventura Harbor, the Coast Guard said.
