A woman was arrested on July 23 on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon at the Ventura Transit Center.
Shortly after 6:14 p.m., Ventura Police Department officers responded to reports of a fight between two women at the center located at 3400 Telegraph Road, according to a department news release.
Investigations found that one of the women, a 26-year-old California resident, allegedly forcefully took the other woman's cellphone. This led to an argument between the two, at which point the 26-year-old allegedly struck the other woman in the face, knocking her to the ground.
The 26-year-old then allegedly took the other woman’s “makeshift cane” and struck her on the head.
After the stolen cellphone was returned, the injured woman was transported
to Ventura County Medical Center to receive treatment for minor injuries related to the incident.
The 26-year-old was later booked into Ventura County jail on multiple offenses including felony robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, as well as misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, jail records show.
She is currently being held on $210,000 bail and is set to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on July 27.
