A Ventura man has been charged for multiple felonies including attempted murder of a woman by the Ventura County District Attorney's Office on July 30.
The Ventura Police Department arrested the 33-year-old man July 25 after he and a woman left a downtown Ventura bar and drove her to a rural area of Santa Paula off of Wheeler Canyon Road, according to a DA's office news release.
The man is suspected of physically assaulting and threatening to kill the woman during a domestic violence incident that day, officials said. He is suspected of pulling out a knife and cutting her, they added.
The woman eventually made her way back to the Ventura Police station around 10 p.m. to report the man and the circumstances, Cmdr. Trenner Marchetti of the department
previously said.
The woman suffered significant injuries and was taken to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment, police said.
The man was arrested in the 400 block of Imperial Avenue in Ventura and booked into Ventura County jail the following morning on suspicion of felonies including attempted murder, kidnapping, assault with force likely to produce great bodily harm, corporal injury to a spouse and criminal threats, according to jail records.
He is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled to appear next in Ventura County Superior Court on Aug. 12, records show.
