A Los Angeles man has pleaded not guilty to a scam stemming from almost $20,000 fraudulently taken from a woman in Oxnard, according to authorities.
On Feb. 26, the Oxnard Police Department was contacted by a woman who believed she was a scammed, according to a department news release. Police said someone posing as a major banking company's fraud department approached her.
Officers said she withdrew nearly $20,000 from her bank account and delivered the money to the person in Oxnard, who she believed was an undercover investigator.
Detectives found the person she delivered the money to was a ride-share driver and the money was delivered to a 30-year-old man in Los Angeles, the release says.

Los Angeles apartment and took him into custody for offenses of obtaining money through false pretenses, officials said.
On July 13, the man pleaded not guilty to all felony offenses and special allegations and was released on his own recognizance, court records show.
He has an early deposition conference scheduled at the Ventura County Superior Court on Aug. 18, records show.
