A 27-year-old man suffered major injuries after he was ejected from his car in a Ventura crash Sept. 14.
The California Highway Patrol received calls about the crash and responded to the scene at Olivas Park Drive near Palma Drive around 11:49 p.m. Officers found a vehicle on its side about 50 feet from the road and an injured man lying on the ground, according to a news release.
The area is surrounded by agricultural land and near from Olivas Links Golf Course.
The Ventura man had apparently been driving eastbound on Olivas Park Drive and made an "unsafe turning movement to the right," according to CHP's initial investigation. The car traveled off the road and into a fence, causing the vehicle to overturn, CHP officials said in the release.
The
driver was not believed to be wearing his seatbelt, officials said.
The driver was taken by ambulance to Ventura County Medical Center. CHP officers conducted an investigation and as a result, the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI for combined influence of alcohol and drugs.
