A Los Angeles man was arrested on Aug .19 for allegedly stealing a car in Camarillo last month.
The vehicle was reported stolen in the 1600 block of Burnley Street to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office on July 1, according to a sheriff's office news release.
The sheriff’s office is contracted for police services in the city of Camarillo.
Investigators used an automated license plate reader system and located the man they believed stole the car, a 43-year-old, while he was driving in Los Angeles on Aug. 19, sheriff’s officials said.
He was booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime and unlawful taking of a vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
He was released after posting $20,000 bail, sheriff’s officials said. He is
scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on Sept. 2, jail records show.
