A woman was found dead along the railroad tracks in the southern part of Ventura early Oct. 24.
Officers with the Ventura Police Department responded to a call of an unconscious woman found near the tracks near the 4000 block of Transport Street around 3:50 a.m., said police Sgt. Fabian Gutierrez.
The street is just south of Market Street near the Department of Motor Vehicles office.
Investigators do not believe the woman was hit by a train and it is too soon to determine whether foul play was involved, Gutierrez said.
