The former president of the Camarillo Girls Softball Association was arrested on suspicion of felony grand theft on Sept. 15 in the alleged embezzlement of thousands of dollars.
Investigators with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office were made aware of the alleged embezzlement after receiving a call in September, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
Sheriff’s detectives believe that the former president had used association funds for personal purchases amounting to losses of several thousand dollars, the sheriff’s office said.
The 59-year-old was arrested without incident and booked into Ventura County jail, but was released on a $10,000 bond the same day. He is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on Sept. 29, according
to court and jail records.
The association did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
