Detroit police are asking the public for help after a ShotSpotter alert early Sunday morning led officers to a 14-year-old shot dead in the city's west side.
The alert came at 1:43 a.m. on Sept. 13 in the 7300 block of Brace St., police said. The young victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detroit police didn't provide further details, other than asking the community's help solving the killing.
The department wrote in a statement:
"Members in the community can submit an anonymous tip to CrimeStoppers at 1-800-SpeakUp or DetroitRewards.TV. You can also contact the Detroit Police Department Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260.
Detroit Rewards TV has a $5,000 reward for information regarding this fatal shooting."
