A local restaurant announced it wants to help employees of the Lochmoor Club in Grosse Pointe Woods after a fire destroyed the clubhouse.
Lola’s Taco Bar, at the corner of Mack Avenue and Norwood Drive, said in a Thursday, Sept. 10, Facebook post that the restaurant is offering immediate work to Lochmoor staff impacted by the fire and facing uncertainty.
“Hospitality is a close-knit community, and Lola’s Taco Bar wants to help in a tangible way,” reads the post.

Lola’s said that Lochmoor Club employees who are looking for immediate work can reach out to them.
“We are ready to make positions available and help bring stability during this uncertain time. We’re here for our neighbors and everyone affected by this loss.”
Lola’s Taco Bar's highly-anticipated
opening in Grosse Pointe Woods came in January. This spot for chef-crafted tacos, margaritas and scratch-made salsa is from Michelin-starred restaurateur and Grosse Pointe native Branden McRill. Lola’s is in the former Boston Market on Mack Avenue and billed as a fast-casual concept with a community focus. The restaurant is about a mile from the Lochmoor Club.
On Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 9, firefighters responded to the club on Sunningdale Drive for a report of a kitchen fire.
A Thursday, Sept. 10, news release from Grosse Pointe Woods public safety officials called the loss of the club significant.
“The historic Lochmoor Club loss is significant for the Grosse Pointe Community; because of the long history of being a prominent part of the area's recreational and social life for more than a century,” the news release stated. “The community will feel this loss for many years to come. Our thoughts are with members and workers who have been impacted by this devastating loss.”
Following the post Lola's Facebook post are comments commending the restaurant for helping the workers and community.
