The five individuals killed by a shooter in an Up North community killing spree this month have officially been identified – and all knew the suspect.

The killing spree, believed to have been committed by the now-deceased 39-year-old Chad Hickman of Lake City, took the lives of: 29-year-old Heather Schwartz, 53-year-old John Schwartz, 45-year-old Shane McGowan, 40-year-old Amanda Everitt, and 16-year-old Eric Thomas, Michigan State Police confirmed in a news release Thursday, Aug. 20.
A 13-year-old-girl, Bella Padilla Everitt, survived the shooting and remains in stable condition.
The bodies were found at three locations in the county, and Hickman was found dead from apparent suicide in a wooded area with Heather Schwartz.

McGowan was childhood friends with Hickman, said a member of the Everitt family. McGowan lived with girlfriend Amanda Everitt and her two children at the location of the first shooting.

Heather Schwartz was a sister of Hickman,the Detroit News reported.
John Schwartz was found at a second home in the county.
