Detroit Red Wings games this season will be on a channel run by Major League Baseball.
The Red Wings announced their 2026-27 season will air on Detroit Sports Network in a news release Friday, Sept. 18, making official an expected move from FanDuel Sports Network alongside the Detroit Tigers.
"We're thrilled to begin our first season of Red Wings hockey on Detroit SportsNet with an incredible broadcast team," said Ilitch Sports + Entertainment president Ryan Gustafson in a statement. "In partnership with Major League Baseball, we focused on giving fans access to games however they want to watch – on television throughout our home market, and through a reliable streaming platform."
The Red Wings and Tigers, both owned by IS+E, announced their move
to MLB Media in February after a split with FSND. The Tigers began broadcasting their regular-season games on FSND soon after, while the Red Wings finished their 2025-26 regular-season broadcasts on FSND before beginning their expected transition to DSN for the upcoming season.
Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond will return as the lead announcers, with Stu Grimson occasionally filling in for Redmond. The broadcast will also feature reporting from Daniella Bruce, Logan Reever and Trevor Thompson, with many returning personalities from the recent FSND era.
The first broadcast on DSN will be a preseason game between the Red Wings and Buffalo Sabres on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. ET. That is Detroit's third preseason game on the schedule, with the first two (Sept. 21 at Columbus at 7 p.m. ET, Sept. 22 at Pittsburgh at 7 p.m. ET) streaming live for Michigan-area fans on DetroitRedWings.com.
DSN is expected to be available through most traditional broadcast services across Michigan, including XFinity, DirecTV, Fubo and AT&T U-Verse. Additionally, in-market fans with a DSN subscription (either through a cable provider or directly with DSN) can stream the Red Wings through a dedicated DSN tab on the MLB App.
So, yes, there will be a little bit of baseball with your hockey, if you choose to watch that way.
Red Wings jersey patch new for 2026-27 season
The Wings also announced a new sponsor for their jersey patch this season: metro Detroit-based DQS Solutions & Staffing (DQS).
The company, according to a press release, "provides scalable workforce and security services designed to help employers solve complex operational challenges. DQS specializes in building and managing launch-ready workforces that can flex with production schedules, seasonal demand and changing operational needs."
